Device to device data transfer
Step 1: Select the device type
- Launch the eMIGRATE application on both, the phone ("Old device" from where to transfer the data" and the "New device" to which you want to transfer the data)
- Select the appropriate option in the 1st screen as show in the below image.
- Press on the "NEXT" button after selecting proper current phone option.
Step 2: Select the transfer medium type
- eMIGRATE support 3 transfer medium as of today:
- WIFI (use this when both the devices are connected to the same WIFI access point)
- Bluetooth
- WIFI Direct
- Select the transfer medium via which you want to transfer the data
- In the image below user has selected Bluetooth as transfer medium
- Make sure that the transfer medium is selected same on both the devices. Select "NEXT"
Step 3: Select the data to be migrated
- Now the "New device" will be waiting for the connection request from the "Old Device"
- On the "Old Device", select the contents which you wish to transfer.
- Image below shows that the user has selected Contacts, Messages and Call logs
- Select "NEXT" to proceed
Step 4: Pairing and connecting
- Now select the device from the list of the available devices.
- eMIGRATE will prompt for confirmation before initiating connection
- On user's confirmation, there will be prompt on both the device to accept pairing
- Once all confirmed by the user, device will get connected and ready for migration
Step 5: Migration progress
- User can now see the migration progress on both the devices.
- Below are the images on how the migration progress will look like
- Once all the data migration is complete, a success message screen will be displayed as below
Create local backup
- Select the "Backup" option from the application left navigation drawer
- New screen with last backup information along with the options to select the data to be back'ed up will be presented to the user.
- Select the contents you wish to backup locally, and press "CREATE BACKUP"
- This will prompt user to provide the "Access Key" to be used to encrypt the backup data
- User can provide a key of its own choice (no restriction on the type and size)
- On providing access key, eMIGRATE will start local backup process
- Once the backup process is complete, a success message will be displayed
- The last backup information will be updated on the screen. User can also select "EXPORT" button to send/upload the backup file via GMAIL, drive, etc.
Restore from the backup
- Select the "Restore" option from the application left navigation drawer
- eMIGRATE application will prompt a message to the user to select the backup file from device storage.
- Select "OK" will take the user to the file explorer from where user can select the backup file, which must have been downloaded to the device via GMAIL/cloud/etc
- Once the backup file is selected, user needs to provide the access code, which was used to create the backup.
- If the provided access code is correct and eMIGRATE application is able to decrypt the file, restore process will start
- Once the restore process is complete, a success/failure message will be displayed to the user.
